Please join the Native Land Conservancy as we observe and monitor plants and animals on the Wampanoag Common Lands (WCL) in Kingston, Massachusetts for the 2nd annual BioBlitz, a gathering of professional and citizen scientists to collect biodiversity data.
Last year the intense survey of organisms on the WCL including plants, animals, and fungi collected more than 300 observations from 20 individuals including 126 species as they fanned out over the 32.4 acre pine barren surrounding Muddy Pond. The findings included rare and protected plants like the Plymouth Gentian, tasty bramble berries, and invasives like the bittersweet that NLC is actively removing from the site.
The 2023 BioBlitz established an important baseline as the NLC continues the restoration of the land and will help document and track changes in the plant and animal communities over time.
